Moonrise Resort was built sometime in the late 1950's and started out as a little "fish camp". Over the years Moonrise has seen many changes and a few different owners. Mike & Sue Ellen were high school sweethearts that grew up in Muncie Indiana. They moved to Florida in 1986 and bought Moonrise Resort. That's when their never ending renovation of Moonrise started. Their hard work, ethics, family values, and personalities have made Moonrise Resort what it is today. For those of you that remember Cheyenne, she lived a long, wonderful life of 13 years at Moonrise. She will be missed by all of her friends. The new addition is on it's way!

We just wanted to thank you for such a great weekend. We really enjoyed it. We needed a nice relaxing get away and we got exactly what we wanted. You guys have made such a special resort with such warmth and true charm. We can’t wait to come back! I also wanted to mention how nice it was to be able to bring the dog with us. This was such a nice perk to be able to have the whole family.

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed being at cabin # 5, it was perfect for us. We’re looking forward to coming back soon, and making smores around the campfire again. We caught 3 fish the first day, and when we were getting ready to leave we caught a fish so big that it broke a 40 pound tess line!!! The one that got away is always the biggest!

I wanted to personally thank you for our wonderful weekend at your resort. Both cabins were really comfortable, very roomy and ultimately clean…all of which were greatly appreciated and made our visit exceptionally pleasant. Some of the most notable amenities we noticed and enjoyed were the circle of swings and firepit, roomy porches, tastefully decorated cabins, and the beautiful quilts made by your mother. Even though most of our friends said the fishing would be so-so due to all of the rain, we caught blue gill, war mouth, and shellcrackers, plus our share of gar, mud fish, and almost a gator! In any case, a truly relaxing weekend.
